Your Opportunity:

Clinical Nurses Consultants play a pivotal role in supporting our Clinical Nurses to create a safe supportive environment for students with health needs. Using advanced critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, they provide tailored support and supervision to our departmental nurses, breaking down barriers to enhance wellbeing and bridging the gap between health care and education. The role will require travel to other locations (which may include overnight stay) in Central Queensland Region.

Responsibilities Include:

• Contribute to the recruitment, selection and induction of departmental nurses.

• Provide ongoing supervision, support, leadership and advocacy for departmental nurses with particular emphasis on safe support of students' health needs.

• Participate directly, or indirectly, in the delivery of clinical services and collaborative practice.

• Develop and implement evidence-based nursing practice in an educational setting.

• Provide professional supervision to nurses in collaboration with regional and school personnel.

• Support performance development planning and facilitate professional development for departmental nurses.

• Lead and participate in the activities of project teams.

• Provide high level advice, risk management and recommendations to the Senior Nurse Manager and other clients on policies, systems and practices related to nursing services in education.

• Contribute to research, development, maintenance, review and implementation of operational standards, policy, procedures and programs to support nursing services across the department.

• Represent the department on committees, associations and interdisciplinary teams.

• Document and secure records of all nursing activities according to departmental policies and procedures.

• High level communication skills through spoken or online platforms including with internal/external and multidisciplinary partners.

• Has built advanced skills in evidence informed collaborative practice.

• Ability to work within professional scope, codes, standards, and align practice with departmental initiatives, policy and procedure.
