About this role

About us:

The Cairns Hospital Surgical Outpatient Department provides pre-operative, post-operative and ongoing care for surgical patients across the specialities of Urology, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Neurosurgery. The Department includes the speciality of Orthopaedics, with fracture, hand, spine and general Orthopaedic care provided. The Surgical Outpatient Department is a busy multidisciplinary setting that aims to provide the highest level of care to the Cairns community. The department provides appointments by way of face to face, telephone and via telehealth consultations. The clinic provides care to approximately 280+ patients per day.

About your role:

In this position you will…..

• Provide effective and efficient clinical care in the Surgical Specialist Clinics and work in collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager to ensure the maintenance of safe standards in patient care.

• Provide leadership to effectively plan, manage and evaluate patient care activities at an advanced practitioner level within the Surgical Specialist Clinics.

• Undertake quality improvement and evidence-based practice activities to ensure the provision of quality, cost-effective patient care.
