About the work unit / facility

The Director of Midwifery is the senior professional midwifery leader within Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS), providing strategic, clinical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based and woman-centred maternity care across the continuum of services.

The role is accountable for professional standards and clinical governance, quality and safety, workforce capability, service performance and improvement, operational excellence and the advancement of contemporary models of care aligned with THHS, Queensland Health and national health priorities.

• Salary range: $7768.50 p.f. (Nurse Grade 12)

• 4 to 6 weeks annual leave with 14%-17.5% loading

• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation

• Plus Salary Sacrificing options may be available

About your opportunity

Working in partnership with medical, nursing and executive leaders across THHS, the Director of Midwifery drives integrated, woman and family-centred care, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributes to strategic planning and service innovation across women's, newborn and children's services.

Requirements:

• Qualification: Bachelor of Nursing and Midwifery or equivalent certification relevant to the position is mandatory.

• Highly Desirable : Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.

• Midwifery Model of Care – Continuity of care caseload model working within the local agreement as per Nursing and Midwifery Award. Appointees will be required work on-call and benefit from an annualised salary.

• On-call : Appointees may be required to participate in an on-call

• Driver Licence: This position requires the applicant to possess an appropriate license to operate a Class C (car) motor vehicle. Verification of license must be provided prior to commencement of duty.

• Travel: This position may be required to travel to (via small planes or ferry), and work at, other facilities located within the THHS, e.g., participate in clinical activities or meetings for planning, quality, performance and education. This may involve day and/or overnight stays. The successful applicant must be able to commit to this requirement.
