About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more than 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.

Innisfail Hospital services include emergency department, general medical and surgical, low risk maternity (3 beds), chemotherapy (4 chairs), and renal dialysis (8 chairs). Innisfail Hospital has 49 inpatient beds and 7 emergency department treatment spaces. Beds include three high dependency unit beds and ten same day beds/bed alternatives. The hospital serves a population of over 8000 people and is 1.5 hours' drive from Cairns. The Innisfail region is renowned for spectacular waterfalls, fishing, Mission Beach, the Family Islands, and World Heritage rainforest.

The Perioperative unit offers a comprehensive range of surgical and endoscopic services. Surgical procedures are conducted over two days, covering General, Dental, Vascular, and Obstetric/Gynaecological specialties. Additionally, endoscopy services are available for three days, including Gastroscopy, Colonoscopy, Flexible Sigmoidoscopy, and NBSP (Colonoscopy).

The Sterilisation Department operates seven days a week, ensuring sterilisation services for all Cassowary Hub Hospitals and Oral Health facilities. Pre-Admission clinic services are also provided to support patient preparation.

About your role:

Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):

• Outpatient clinics, preadmission clinic and anaesthetic assessments.

• Assisting with endoscopy procedures.

• Theatre and instrument preparation and sterilisation.
