The role

Health Workforce Division (HWD) supports the growth, retention, and sustainability of a skilled, diverse, and responsive workforce to meet Queensland's evolving healthcare needs. We work collaboratively to enable Hospitals and Health Services provide optimum levels of care, with a strong focus on rural, remote, and priority communities.

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General and a pivotal member of the leadership team, you will lead a coordinated, end-to-end approach to workforce strategy across Queensland Health, bringing together workforce analytics, planning, policy, credentialing, innovation, national workforce policy and networked services. The branch aligns data-driven insights with service need to inform workforce design, support implementation and drive continuous improvement, with a strong focus on regional, rural and remote communities.

You will:

• Oversee delivery of WSIB core functions: workforce analytics, planning, delivery, office of rural and remote and workforce innovation

• Provide expert strategic and operational leadership, stewardship and expert, well-informed advice

• Lead strategic, state-wide initiatives that build capacity through innovation and inform operational practice

• Actively lead and contribute to the cultural evolution of the division, building a work environment that values performance, improvement, collaboration and innovation

• Lead, manage and report on programs of significant scope and strategic importance

• Lead and be accountable for efficient and effective Branch operations, including optimisation of processes, resource allocation and people management

• Use technical and practical strategic workforce planning expertise and collaboration skills to establish and maintain contemporary models of workforce strategy, planning and tactical system interventions

The successful person

We are looking for a highly capable executive who demonstrates:

• executive leadership in delivering complex, system-wide workforce initiatives, integrating workforce planning, policy, analytics, innovation and service delivery into cohesive, evidence-based strategies and sustainable outcomes

• extensive experience leading strategic workforce planning and workforce design initiatives, including application of analytics, modelling and scenario planning to address current and future workforce challenges, particularly in regional, rural and remote healthcare settings

• Proven ability to lead and influence across a large, decentralised health system, government agencies, professional bodies and key stakeholders to deliver coordinated workforce solutions and strategic objectives

• Highly developed executive leadership, governance and communication skills, with demonstrated capability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage risk and resources, drive operational improvement, and provide authoritative advice
