The opportunity

The Lead, IT Supplier Performance role offers a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in strengthening GWW’s financial and commercial discipline across its IT portfolio. This fixed term parental leave opportunity provides the chance to step into an established and highly visible role within IT&D, taking ownership of supplier performance, commercial management and procurement activities across a significant technology portfolio. As a key position within the IT&D team, you will lead the monitoring and continuous improvement of supplier performance, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and value delivery. The role provides significant influence over technology procurement activities, including leading business-led procurement for all IT projects under $1 million and managing the GWW IT supplier panel. You will work closely with stakeholders to provide expert advice on pricing, payment terms and service level agreements for existing contracts, while also contributing to sourcing strategies and procurement plans for major new IT investments. Whether supporting licensing arrangements, maintenance and support services, or the delivery of new and upgraded software and hardware solutions, this role offers the opportunity to shape supplier relationships, drive commercial excellence and contribute to the successful delivery of GWW’s technology objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT commercial management activities , including monitoring technology operating and capital budgets, and identifying supplier cost optimisation opportunities to maximise value and support organisational financial objectives.

• Manage strategic supplier relationships and contracts , Manage an established portfolio of strategic supplier relationships and contracts, ensuring effective governance, strong commercial outcomes, service resilience and alignment with evolving business needs

• Oversee IT procurement and contract lifecycle management , including evaluating supplier proposals, negotiating commercial agreements, maintaining a centralised contract register, and ensuring contractual obligations, renewals and performance requirements are effectively managed.

• Drive supplier performance and service excellence by establishing and monitoring KPIs and SLAs, conducting regular vendor performance reviews, managing service issues and conflicts, and ensuring compliance with relevant security, governance and regulatory standards, including VPDSF, Essential Eight and SOCI requirements.

• Provide industry leadership and continuous improvement , support continuous improvement across supplier management and commercial practices, leveraging market insights to strengthen service delivery and maximise value from supplier partnerships

Skills & Experience

• Demonstrated experience in IT supplier, vendor and contract management , preferably within a Victorian Government environment, a proven ability to manage complex supplier relationships, negotiate commercial outcomes and drive service performance improvements.

• Strong understanding of IT commercial management, budgeting and financial analysis , including experience monitoring operating and capital expenditure, forecasting costs and identifying supplier cost optimisation opportunities.

• Proven knowledge of procurement and sourcing practices , with experience developing procurement plans, evaluating supplier proposals and supporting contract negotiations for technology products and services.

• Experience establishing and monitoring supplier performance frameworks , including the development and management of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and vendor performance review processes.

• Sound understanding of ICT governance, risk and compliance requirements , including familiarity with Victorian Protective Data Security Standards (VPDSF), Essential Eight cyber security controls, Security of Critical Infrastructure (SOCI) obligations and related technology governance frameworks.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, provide strategic advice to leaders, and collaborate effectively across technical, commercial and business teams while fostering a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture.
