• Two (2) Permanent, Full Time • Salary: $63,245 - $71,089 gross p.a. plus 12% Super • Additional $1,055 gross p.a. Level 1 Adverse Working Conditions Allowance • 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday) with a 9-day fortnight • Located at the Ulladulla Works Depot, Deering Street Ulladulla • Applications close on Monday, 10 August 2026 (at midnight) About the Role Shoalhaven City Council is seeking two skilled and safety-focused Major Plant Operators to join our Southern Maintenance Team based at the Ulladulla Works Depot. In this hands-on role, you will operate a range of major plant and equipment to support the maintenance, construction and improvement of Council assets and infrastructure. You will play a key role in delivering essential services to the community while providing day-to-day leadership and support within work crews. This position offers variety, working across civil maintenance, construction, parks and roadside operations, while ensuring compliance with safety and operational requirements This includes: • Operate and maintain a variety of major plant and equipment including excavators, graders, loaders, backhoes, compactors, water tankers, tractors, street sweepers and heavy vehicles. • Operate and maintain hand tools and machinery including chainsaws, mowers, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, herbicide spraying equipment and power tools. • Undertake civil construction, maintenance and landscaping activities, including earthworks, road maintenance, mowing, tree pruning, irrigation works and park maintenance. • Carry out pre-operational inspections, basic maintenance and minor repairs on plant and equipment. • Complete timesheets, risk assessments and other operational documentation both electronically and in writing. Being available to be on-call and complete reasonable overtime is a requirement of this position. About You To be successful in the position, you will have: • School Certificate or equivalent • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in operating major plant such as backhoe, dozer / compactor, excavator, front end loader, tractor, grader, street sweeper, water tanker, garbage compactor or equivalent • Demonstrated experience in civil construction and/or maintenance activities. • Current RMS Issued Traffic Control or SafeWork NSW Traffic Control Work Training Cards - 'Traffic controller' and 'Implement traffic control plans' or willingness to obtain • Current National WHS Construction Card (WorkCover) • Class HR Licence • Proof of right to work in Australia How to Apply To submit an application, click Apply and complete each Step of the application.
