Position overview • Employment Type: This is a full-time, ongoing position (80 hours per fortnight), with the added benefit of a monthly Accrued Day Off (ADO). We understand flexibility matters, so part-time hours may be considered for the right applicant. • Location: Warrnambool Campus • Classification: Administrative Grade 6 / Research Nurse Level 3 • Salary Range: $113,793 - $128,102 per annum, plus superannuation About the role This is a rare opportunity to lead an established and rapidly growing Clinical Trials Unit within one of regional Victoria's leading health services. As our Manager - Clinical Trials , you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of clinical research, driving operational excellence while expanding our clinical trials portfolio and strengthening partnerships across the sector. The Unit has built strong foundations with robust systems, an excellent team and expanding trial portfolio - and is now entering an exciting phase of strategic growth. This is more than an operational management role it is an opportunity to influence strategy, foster innovation, genuine scop to shape the Unit's direction and make a lasting impact on research that improves patient outcomes. As the Clinical Trials Manager, you will lead the operational, strategic and business activities of the South West Healthcare Clinical Trials Unit (SWH CTU). Working closely with the Head of Department, Manager of Research, Principal Investigators and external partners, you will ensure our clinical trials are delivered to the highest standards while positioning the Unit for continued growth and success. Key responsibilities include: • Lead the establishment, coordination and delivery of clinical trials across the South West Healthcare Clinical Trials Unit (SWH CTU). • Inspire, mentor and manage the Clinical Trials Unit team, fostering a high-performing, collaborative and accountable culture. • Oversee trial and unit budgets, resource allocation and financial performance to support operational excellence. • Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory and ethical requirements by working closely with the Research Ethics and Governance Office. • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with sponsors, investigators, research networks and other key stakeholders. • Drive the growth of the Clinical Trials Unit by identifying new research opportunities, preparing funding applications and business cases, and supporting long-term sustainability. • Represent South West Healthcare within the broader clinical research sector, contributing to strategic initiatives and strengthening the organisation's research profile. What you bring We are seeking an experienced clinical research leader who combines operational excellence with strategic vision and a passion for advancing clinical research. You will bring: • A Masters or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. Oncology, Haematology, Bioscience). • Strong knowledge of Australian clinical trial regulations, including TGA, ICH-GCP and relevant ethical frameworks. • Proven leadership experience with strong people management and communication skills. • Business and financial acumen, including budget management and identifying growth opportunities. • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with clinicians, sponsors and research partners. • Strong organisational, time management and IT skills, including clinical trial data management. Desirable • Leadership exper ience within a Clinical Trials Unit or similar research environment. • Experience contributing to strategic planning and service development.
