Cloncurry Shire Council is seeking a Plant Operator / Labourer to join our Rural Roads Maintenance team within the Infrastructure & Environment Department.This role is responsible for supporting Council’s rural roads maintenance and construction programs, including grader operations, road maintenance activities and general labouring duties. What We OfferFull Time- Stream B- Level 1-7- $60,000 to $69,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + Superannuation.5 weeks Annual Leave (with 17.5% Leave Loading)Monthly RDO (13 per year)Personal (Sick) LeaveRemote Area Housing AllowanceAbout the RoleThe Plant Operator / Labourer – Rural Roads position undertakes a range of operational duties, including plant operation, rural road maintenance and general labouring tasks. The role supports Council’s rural road network by ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. Key ResponsibilitiesThe successful applicant will assist with a variety of tasks, including:Operating plant and machinery, including grader operations and final trim grading.Performing road maintenance and construction activities on rural roadsConducting pre-start checks and reporting defects on plant and equipment.Grass cutting and vegetation maintenance along rural roads.Maintenance of road signs and guidepostsPothole patching and other road maintenance tasksSlashing and general labouring dutiesAssisting with litter and garbage collection where requiredSupporting Council works programs as directed by the Rural Roads Supervisor About YouTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:Experience operating plant and machinery, particularly grader operationsAbility to complete assigned tasks within expected timeframes and maintain high work standards.Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety practicesAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Knowledge of civil construction or local government works is desirable.Flexibility to work outside normal hours when required.Mandatory RequirementsCurrent Police ClearanceManual C Class Driver LicenceHeavy Rigid (HR) Driver LicenceConstruction White Card (required prior to commencement)Current Grader Operator CertificationFormation Grading of Unsealed Roads Certification DesirableTraffic Control or Traffic Management accreditationHeavy Combination (HC) LicenceExperience operating a range of plant and machineryCertificate III in Plant Operations (Civil Construction) or similarMinimum two years’ experience in grader operations and final trim work For a more detailed job outline, please refer to the attached PD.Locals are encouraged to apply!Applications are assessed upon receiving Cloncurry Shire Council reserves the right to commence recruitment prior to the closing date should a suitable candidate apply.PD 3014 Plant Operator Labourer Rural Roads Crew
