The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. About your opportunity

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while supporting important reform and review work within Queensland's criminal justice system? This is a temporary opportunity available for a period of three years. As a Policy and Research Officer, you will:

• Contribute to meaningful work that supports Queensland's response to sexual violence.

• Provide administrative and research support to the Prosecution Review Unit within the ODPP.

• Assist in preparing responses to enquiries and requests for information from the Office of the Victims Commissioner in collaboration with the Principal Policy Officer and legal staff.

• Support the day-to-day administration of the Prosecution Review Unit, ensuring information requests are managed efficiently and in accordance with policies, procedures and audit requirements.

• Undertake research, data collection and statistical analysis to support legal case review processes and reporting requirements.

• Gather, analyse and report on statistical information relating to the work of the ODPP.

• Maintain accurate records of correspondence, reporting and other documentation.

• Work closely with legal and administrative professionals to support the delivery of high-quality responses, reports and submissions.

What we're looking for:

• Demonstrated ability to gather, analyse and present statistical data in a clear and user-friendly format.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using Power BI.

• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and discretion when handling sensitive information.

• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.

• An understanding of the role of the ODPP within the criminal justice system and an appreciation of the needs of victims of crime.
