Attention to detail, adaptability and teamwork underpin success in this role as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively. The role will provide a wide range of project support officer functions and will support the work of the team managing the civil claims for the department. This will include supporting the day-to-day needs of the legal team and its special projects, as well as supporting the records management team as needed. This may include data entry into the branch's matter management system and department's record management system and preparing matter management reports, preparing internal briefings and assisting with legal correspondence. This role may also be required to assist the team in preparing relevant data for the leadership to provide to the department's divisions, Secretary and ministers. Legal Services is seeking a candidate that is motivated, demonstrates initiative, enthusiasm and good judgment, and has excellent written and oral communications skills. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE • Under general direction, provide supportive assistance with office processes including data entry and management of documentation and preparing matter management reports • Answer queries, provide timely advice and undertake general follow up action as required, including correctly redirecting incoming correspondence and queries. • Assist solicitors in the management of litigation and/or advice, including: • Continuously updating matter trackers, including coordinating urgent requests. • Coordinating requests for departmental records. • Drafting and preparing forms, documents, correspondence, and other material. • Briefing firms and/or barristers appropriately in matters managed by the team. • Undertaking legal research and discrete tasks.
