About this role

About our School:

Middle Park State School opened in January 1987 with 156 students and today has around 580 students. Our school is surrounded by trees and has expansive grounds and plenty of room for students to run and play. Our students are friendly and our parent community provide support  to a variety of staff members who assist in our children's education. The generous support of the school P&C allows us to constantly update learning resources and facilities to provide an engaging learning environment for students. It is this commitment to education and close partnership between staff and community that makes Middle Park a special place to be.

About the Role:

As the Schools Officer, Grounds and Facilities you will contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of grounds and facilities to the Principal, Business Manager or nominated delegate.

You will perform a range of activities to ensure that the school is maintained to a high standard; follow set instructions; and have independence to perform a variety of day-to-day services that are routine in nature. However, the role receives regular supervision when undertaking duties that are non-routine in nature.

Swimming Pool maintenance experience is essential.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain school grounds, pool, gardens, sporting fields, and outdoor facilities to a high standard.

• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and coordinate contractors for school facilities and equipment.

• Support the day-to-day operation of the school through mail delivery, stock control, room setup, and asset management.

• Monitor and maintain security systems, building access, and banking procedures.

• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, including identifying hazards and maintaining equipment records.

• Assist with school events, emergency cleaning, waste management, and grounds upkeep.

• Liaise with school leadership, staff, contractors, and external service providers regarding maintenance and facilities.

• Manage grounds and facilities projects, including budgeting, procurement, facilities audits, and maintenance planning.

• Obtain quotes, purchase materials, and contribute to funding submissions and cost-effective improvement projects.

• Operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment, irrigation systems, and specialised horticultural machinery.
