Salary Package starting from: $95,974.73 About the role Senior Officer Waste Services oversees the City’s waste services, including landfill and kerbside collection, while delivering sustainability projects. The role ensures regulatory compliance, drives operational efficiency and continuous improvement, and supports positive environmental and community outcomes. Duties Key responsibilities include: • Manage contractor performance and compliance for the Yarri Road Refuse Facility. • Oversee kerbside waste, recycling, and other City waste collection services. • Support strategic landfill planning and sustainable waste management practices. • Assist with regulatory compliance, licensing, audits, and safety requirements. • Support the preparation, monitoring, and forecasting of waste service budgets. • Review waste service fees and charges annually. • Coordinate environmental sustainability projects and initiatives. • Analyse waste service performance and community needs to improve outcomes. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align waste services with City priorities. • Develop and maintain waste service policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks. • Prepare and review tenders, policies, reports, and external submissions. • Lead contractor meetings and performance reviews. • Supervise staff, including performance management and development. Who we are Looking for: To be considered for this position, you will need: • Relevant qualification in waste or environmental management, or significant industry experience. • Knowledge of waste and sustainability operations, including legislative and regulatory requirements. • Strong communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder engagement skills. • Well-developed organisational, administrative, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. • Experience preparing reports, waste management plans, and policies. • Experience in tender preparation and contract management. • Advanced Microsoft Office skills. • Knowledge of waste and environmental licensing, compliance, and regulatory processes. • Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within Local Government. • Experience with NGER and NPI reporting. • Current National Police Clearance. • Current WA C Class Driver’s Licence. • Construction Induction (White Card).
