This permanent role sits within Ageing Australia’s Funding and Reform Policy team, with a focus on some of the sector’s most pressing and complex challenges – from sustainable funding and investability in the sector across programs and locations, to pricing models and regulatory design. You will apply quantitative analysis and policy expertise to inform submissions, policy proposals and engagement with government and regulators. This opportunity offers the chance to: • Join a peak body at the forefront of sector reform and future system design • Apply financial modelling and costing skills to real policy decisions • Build specialist expertise in a complex and evolving policy area • Work in a culture that values collaboration, flexibility and initiative, where your ideas and voice will have real impact The Role Working in a small team and reporting to the Head of Funding & Reform, your key responsibilities will include: • Contributing to Ageing Australia’s policy program of work, with a focus on funding and reform • Preparing high-quality reports, briefs, discussion papers and submissions incorporating member input • Analysing government policy proposals, legislation and research to assess implications for members • Undertaking proposal costings and applying financial modelling to inform evidence-based positions • Analysing aged care funding models, pricing, quantitative data and related policy settings to identify areas for improvement • Engaging with members, government agencies and regulators on funding, pricing, legislative and regulatory reform matters • Representing Ageing Australia in forums, consultations and working groups The Ideal Person To be successful in this role, you will bring a relevant tertiary qualification, experience analysing and costing public policy proposals, and well-developed policy writing skills. You will also come from a background working on aged care, health or broader social policy initiatives. You are analytically sharp and comfortable operating in a reform environment where deadlines matter. You think independently, apply sound judgement and engage confidently with stakeholders while working through complex detail. You will bring: • Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, commerce, law or public policy • Excellent research, analytical and writing skills with demonstrated ability to draft concise policy briefings and submissions • Experience in, or demonstrated ability to, analyse and cost public policy proposals, and in modelling the potential impacts of policy proposals • Proficiency in quantitative skills (such as statistics, econometrics) and modelling techniques (such as simulation, economic analysis) • Confidence engaging with senior executives, member organisations and government stakeholders • A collaborative approach and commitment to Ageing Australia’s values To be eligible for this role, you must have full working rights in Australia.
