About this role

What you will be doing in the role: • Compile and publish economic, demographic, and social statistics for Queensland using automated processes and Web Content Management Systems (WCMS), often under tight timeframes. • Provide complex technical advice, analytics and reporting services to clients and senior officers. Coordinate client requirements and competing team priorities, exercising sound judgment and effective time management. • Develop and maintain statistical reports and databases using tools such as Excel, R, R Shiny and GitLab. • Develop and maintain web-based statistical reporting systems created in Oracle Database, java-script, Eclipse Business Intelligence Reporting Tool (BIRT). • Develop and maintain statistical maps using geographic information systems (GIS). • Lead complex technical projects, ensuring outputs satisfy Office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles and methodologies. • Ensure the security and confidentiality of information in accordance with standards and security plans. • Apply statistical classifications, standards and methodologies consistently across outputs.

What you will bring to be successful in the role: • Extensive experience in processing and analysing data using the statistical software application ‘R'. • Experience in GIS software for mapping and analysing spatial data. • Experience working with relational databases. • An understanding of official statistics including standards and classifications. • High level written and verbal communication skills. • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing work priorities with tight deadlines, while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
