About this opportunity Reporting directly to the Research Manager, Representation Reviews, this role provides technical writing support and guidance to the program team. This fixed-term program team is being established to complete ward boundary reviews before the 2028 council elections. Ward boundary reviews are carried out under the Local Government Act 2020 and aim to maintain fair and equitable representation for voters, consistent with legislative principles and good practice for representative democracies. About the team The Electoral Representation Team leads the VEC's support and delivery of state and local government representation reviews, including support for internal and external review panels. During representation review events, an expanded team is established to deliver review programs. The Research Team will work closely with the program's Geospatial and Public Consultation teams to deliver the upcoming ward boundary review program and provide high-quality advice and support to the ward boundary review panel. A day in the life of the Technical Writer, Representation Reviews As a member of our Review Team, you will support the review team to produce high-quality publications and written material that supports the review process, public consultation activities, and communicating review findings. Your role focuses on preparing templates, procedures and other material to guide review teams in their work, reviewing written material produced by colleagues, and providing constructive feedback that aligns with review standards and ensures publications are consistent, accurate and of professional quality. In this dynamic, fast–paced role, you will work interdependently with colleagues, adapting quickly as priorities shift. Timelines for the review program are short, and work is often fast moving to meet non-negotiable deadlines. About you • Demonstrated experience in preparing templates, procedures, checklists, guidelines, and other documents for use by the review team, ensuring document standards are met. • Experience participating in quality assurance processes, providing timely and constructive feedback that supports the production of professional-standard publications, presentations, and written material. • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams. • Proven ability to manage compe ting priorities, escalating issues or risks, and effectively organize time to complete overlapping tasks during peak periods. • A commitment to foster an inclusive and respectful workplace, where diversity is valued and all team members feel safe, supported and empowered to contribute.
