About the role Are you a passionate fitness and recreation leader who thrives on creating exceptional customer experiences? We are seeking an experienced Active Experience Team Leader to lead the delivery of health and fitness services at Melbourne City Baths, one of Melbourne's most iconic community facilities. This permanent leadership opportunity is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the gym facility, managing a team of approximately 10 gym instructors and personal trainers, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality fitness programs that support member engagement, retention, and wellbeing outcomes. A little more about the role • Lead, coach and develop a team of gym instructors and oversee the personal training program and leaseholder management. • Manage the operation, programming and upkeep of the gym facility to ensure a safe, welcoming and engaging customer experience. • Implement and promote health and fitness programs, consultations, assessments and exercise prescription services that support membership growth and retention. • Collaborate with the Melbourne City Baths leadership team to drive participation, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement initiatives. • Monitor service performance, manage budgets and contribute to strategic planning and innovation within the health and fitness portfolio. • Perform operational shifts as required, including gym instructing, duty supervising and other facility support activities. About you You are an experienced fitness, recreation or leisure professional with a strong background in leading teams and delivering high-quality customer experiences. You are passionate about creating inclusive, engaging environments that encourage people of all backgrounds and abilities to lead active and healthy lifestyles. What your experience might look like - Key Selection Criteria • Relevant tertiary qualification in health and fitness, recreation, leisure services, or demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role overseeing gym facilities and programs. • Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness (Personal Training) or higher industry qualification. • Demonstrated experience leading and developing fitness teams while managing service delivery outcomes. • Experience operating gym facilities, fitness programs and customer retention initiatives. • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills. • Sound understanding of customer experience principles within an aquatic, recreation or fitness environment. • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion and accessible service delivery. • Experience using point-of-sale, membership and retention systems.
