Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Remuneration: - Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29523 The purpose of the position is to provide effective medical services to patients, while developing expertise and skills in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in both inpatient and outpatient areas in the public health organisation. Applicants are only eligible for these positions if they have an MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. Applicants must have completed at least four postgraduate years, have successful completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Divisional Clinical Exam, or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake sub speciality training in Geriatrics Medicine in Australia. The Advanced Trainee will provide effective medical services to patients under supervision while developing expertise in geriatric medicine practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatient and outpatient areas with Hunter New England Local Health District. Rotations may include Community Services, Orthogeriatrics, Psychogeriatrics, Aged Care Rehabilitation, Rural and Acute/Subacute Inpatients at John Hunter Hospital, Belmont District Hospital, The Maitland Hospital, Rankin Park Centre and Calvary Mater Newcastle. HNELHD is one of the largest employers in the district and provides a range of public health services to the Hunter, New England and Lower Mid North Coast regions: - 920,370* people, including 52,990* Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people - 169,846 residents who were born overseas - Employs 16,033 staff - Is supported by 1600 volunteers - Spans 25 local government areas Is the only district in New South Wales with: - A major metropolitan centre - A mix of several large regional centres - Many smaller rural centres and remote communities within its borders * Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements of the role. * Completion of at least four postgraduate years and successful completion of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Divisional Clinical Exam, or equivalent, and be eligible to undertake sub-specialty training in Geriatrics Medicine in Australia. * Demonstrated commitment to training in Geriatric Medicine and previous experience in Aged Care Medicine. * Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised clinical environment using excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise. * Good time management and organisational skills and advanced computing skills. * Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) and demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. * Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self- education as well as a willingness to teach and support junior medical staff. * Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
