Advanced Trainee - Paediatrics, Northern Beaches Hospital Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Remuneration: As per 'Public Hospital Medical Officers (State) Award' Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29312 An exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Team at the Northern Beaches Hospital The Paediatric Trainee is expected to provide effective clinical management of patients, under the supervision of the VMO and Staff Specialist Paediatricians, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. THIS POSITION IS BASED AT THE NORTHERN BEACHES HOSPITAL, FRENCHS FOREST, NSW Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport. The Paediatric Ward is a Level 4 Paediatric service with 18 beds in total plus a 6 bed short stay area. The special care nursery has 12 beds.Service provision includes the Paediatric Ward, Ambulatory Care Clinics, Paediatric Emergency Department referrals, Maternity, Special Care Nursery, Interventional Suite and the Paediatric Day of Surgery Centre.Care is provided for children up to 16 years of age. This includes acute presentations / births, subacute reviews and chronic care patients. The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors. On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas. There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres.
