Anaesthesia Career Medical Officer, Blue Mountains HospitalEmployment Type: Temporary Full Time (01-Feb-2027 to 06-Feb-2028) Remuneration: $147,664 - $220,018 Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM30065 The primary purpose of this position to provide anaesthesia care in a complex clinical environment. This will be done under supervision appropriate to the level of training of the applicant and in line with recommendations of the training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) or as part of the CICM or ACEM training programme or Diploma of Rural Generalist Anaesthesia, where this is applicable. The Career Medical Officer is expected to extend their knowledge and skills in managing anaesthesia across multiple sub-speciality areas of anaesthesia to meet the professional standards set by ANZCA. They are required to deliver anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms and to perform other duties during rotations to other areas as directed. The Career Medical Officer will participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics including: * Anaesthesia and sedation (including obstetric anaesthesia where relevant) * Regional anaesthesia * Airway management * Pain medicine * Perioperative medicine * Resuscitation * Trauma and crisis management Essential requirements * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. * Applicants who are not currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia must meet English language skills registration standard (medical) and attach evidence of this to their application. * Adequate postgraduate hospital medical experience (3 years or greater), and a level of clinical anaesthesia experience appropriate for the role. * Preparedness to undertake all aspects of the role as described in the position description, including, but not limited to, participation in after-hours rosters and assistance to other departments (e.g. Emergency Department) or to Springwood Hospital as directed by the Head of Anaesthetics. * Completion of basic training in a facility approved for ANZCA training. * At least two years full-time experience as a JMO in Anaesthetics (accredited or unaccredited) with a demonstrated ability to provide anaesthesia services under ANZCA Level 3/Level 4 Supervision and to know when to call for assistance. * Demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in the last 2 years in a setting appropriate to the needs of the position. * This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role. * Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check. * To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time.
