About The Opportunity As an ED Mental Health Triage Registered Nurse (ED MHT RN) , you will provide expert clinical consultation and comprehensive mental health assessments for consumers presenting to the Emergency Department requiring specialist mental health support. You will be responsible for undertaking acute mental health assessments, including mental health triage, mental state examinations, risk assessments, and crisis interventions, while developing and implementing appropriate care strategies. Working within a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will partner closely with the ED Mental Health Clinical Nurse Consultants (CNCs), Clinical Nurse Specialist (Grade 2), Psychiatric Registrars, Emergency Department clinicians, PACER, the Acute Care Team, Mental Health Inpatient Units, and community mental health services to ensure timely, coordinated, and person-centred care. For more information about this role, please view the Position Description About You You are a highly experienced mental health nurse with: • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse. • Extensive post-registration experience in mental health nursing, supported by postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing or a commitment to completing them. • Demonstrated expertise in acute mental health assessment, including triage, mental state examination, risk identification, and crisis intervention. • Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional consumer-focused care. • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, showing initiative and sound clinical judgement. • Advanced computer literacy, including experience using electronic medical record systems and other digital health technologies.
This position operates on a 24-hour, 7-day rotating roster , and flexibility to work across all shifts is essential. Applicants must have current Australian work rights.
