The opportunity

Lead the technology and digital future of Greater Western Water in a highly influential senior leadership role with enterprise-wide impact. As Chief Information Officer, you will drive the organisation's technology strategy, digital services, cyber security, and technology risk management, ensuring GWW is well positioned to deliver on its strategic objectives and future growth ambitions. Acting as a trusted advisor to the executive team, you will champion innovation, leverage emerging technologies, and build strong partner relationships to enhance business outcomes and operational performance. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be a key member of the GWW Senior Leadership Team, helping shape the organisation's direction and success.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver GWW’s technology, digital and cyber security strategy, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and future growth.

• Provide strategic advice to executive leaders on technology trends, innovation, data, AI and digital transformation opportunities.

• Lead enterprise technology investment, architecture and portfolio delivery, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable business value.

• Oversee cyber security, technology risk and resilience, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

• Drive data governance, analytics, automation and AI capabilities to improve decision-making and organisational performance.

• Lead technology operations, infrastructure, applications and support services, ensuring reliable, secure and customer-focused outcomes.

• Build and manage strategic vendor partnerships, technology budgets and third-party performance.

• Foster a high-performing, inclusive culture, developing capability across teams and championing safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement.

• Contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting enterprise-wide strategy, decision-making and organisational success.

Skills & Experience

• Extensive experience leading enterprise-scale technology functions, strategy and transformation.

• Proven success building and developing high-performing, diverse teams.

• Strong expertise in cyber security, cloud, digital transformation, data governance and technology operations.

• Demonstrated executive leadership, commercial acumen, financial management and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Experience delivering large-scale technology programs, system modernisation and digital initiatives.

• Proven ability to influence Boards, executives and senior stakeholders, and build strong strategic partnerships.

• Experience managing key vendor relationships, contracts and technology investments.

• Demonstrated success driving innovation, continuous improvement, organisational change, automation and AI adoption.

• Experience within large, complex and/or regulated environments, with strong knowledge of risk, compliance and governance.

• Understanding of data, analytics, AI, service management, disaster recovery and business continuity.

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business or a related discipline. Project management qualifications, Agile/Waterfall experience, and knowledge of SCADA and IT/OT environments are desirable.
