The Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) is a specialist project delivery organisation, responsible for delivering the biggest transport, community safety and health infrastructure program in Victorian history. This includes more than 200 projects such as the Metro Tunnel, North East Link, West Gate Tunnel, removing level crossings, new and upgraded hospitals in Footscray, Frankston and Warrnambool, and specialist programs such as the early parenting centres expansion and upgrade program.
The unprecedented program of works brings together expert skillsets to deliver crucial emergency services, health and major transport projects and ensure that operations are streamlined and efficient while delivering better outcomes for Victorians. This multi-disciplinary program includes more than 200 projects including North East Link, removing level crossings, Melbourne Airport Rail Stage 1, new and upgraded hospitals, and specialist programs such as the early parenting centres expansion and upgrade program, and community safety projects for corrections and emergency services.
The unprecedented program of works brings together expert skillsets to deliver crucial health, community safety, and major transport projects, and ensures that operations are streamlined and efficient while delivering better outcomes for Victorians.
Led by the Director-General, VIDA comprises five project offices, VIDA Roads, VIDA Metro, VIDA Rail, VIDA Health and VIDA Community Safety.
VIDA is established as an Administration Office under the Public Administration Act 2004 as a specialist organisation.
About this Opportunity
The Legal Officer will support the delivery of high-quality legal services across VIDA Community Safety's major infrastructure program. Working within the Legal team, you will undertake legal and factual research, prepare correspondence, briefings and legal documentation, and support contract administration and claims activities. You will also coordinate legal matters, stakeholders, actions and deadlines to help ensure matters progress efficiently and in line with relevant legislative, policy and governance requirements.
The role will contribute to procurement, contractual, compliance and probity activities, while maintaining accurate legal records and supporting continuous improvement across legal processes, templates and document management practices. This is an opportunity to build your experience in a complex government infrastructure environment and contribute to projects that support safer communities across Victoria.
About You
A capable legal or paralegal professional who can provide accurate, organised and responsive support in a fast-paced environment. You bring sound knowledge of legal principles, contract administration and government governance frameworks, together with the ability to research and analyse information and prepare clear, professional written materials.
Builds effective working relationships, communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders and use sound judgement when handling sensitive and confidential information. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and take a proactive, practical approach to supporting legal matters and improving ways of working.
You'll bring:

Key Selection Criteria < /p>
• Demonstrated knowledge of legal principles, contract administration and government governance frameworks, with the ability to apply this knowledge to support legal and commercial outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake legal and factual research, analyse information from multiple sources, identify issues and support the development of practical recommendations.
• Produces accurate, well-structured and professional written materials including correspondence, briefing notes, reports, contract documentation and legal support documents.
• Builds effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and communicates confidently to coordinate activities, resolve issues and support business outcomes.
• Demonstrates strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate legal matters and consistently deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
• Delivers high-quality support in accordance with established processes, maintaining accurate legal, contractual and administrative records and ensuring documentation is complete and up to date.
• Demonstrates integrity, discretion and accountability by handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately and complying with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and probity requirements.
• Contributes to continuous improvement by identifying practical ways to strengthen legal support processes, templates, document management practices and service delivery.
Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements
A relevant tertiary qualification in law, legal studies or a related discipline is desirable. Where no formal qualification is held, demonstrated experience in a paralegal or legal support role is required.
