Achieve Something Great An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Infection Control Clinical Nurse Consultant Grade 3 (CNC3) to provide strategic leadership, expert clinical advice, and operational oversight of Infection Prevention and Control services. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will support the delivery of safe, high-quality, person-centred care through the implementation of evidence-based infection prevention practices, surveillance programs, outbreak management, and clinical governance initiatives. * Provide expert leadership in infection prevention and control. * Lead surveillance, auditing, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections. * Coordinate outbreak preparedness, response, and management. * Drive quality improvement initiatives aligned with NSQHS Standards, particularly Standard 3. * Deliver education, mentoring, and capability development for clinical staff. * Partner with executive leaders, clinicians, and external stakeholders to ensure best-practice infection control outcomes. * Contribute to policy development, clinical governance, and organisational risk management. As a Clinical Nurse Consultant in Infection Prevention, you’ll bring the following skills and experience: * A highly experienced Registered Nurse with demonstrated expertise in Infection Prevention and Control. * A strong clinical leader with the ability to influence practice across complex healthcare environments. * Experienced in quality improvement, change management, and clinical governance. * Skilled in data analysis, surveillance programs, and translating evidence into practice. * Able to build collaborative relationships and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive patient and organisational outcomes. Selection Criteria To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. * Do you currently hold Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA, at least 7 years full-time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 5 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field Please attach a copy of your AHPRA registration and associated qualifications with your application. * The applicant must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). * Demonstrated ability to identify service improvement opportunities. Including the capacity to initiate change and negotiate support from key stakeholders across the organisation in clinical practice implementation * Demonstrated application of highly developed verbal and written communication to debate complex concepts with experts and support long term relationships with broad range stakeholders * Demonstrated ability to influence and lead change at an organisational level that supports strategic directions and enhance clinical practice and service delivery.. * Demonstrated ability to think critically, problem solve and make timely and sound clinical decisions whilst working autonomously e.g. understanding the application of evidence-based practice, risk reduction and management and the principles of continuous quality improvement in infection prevention.
