Come Join Us! This position offers an inital 6 month contract to work 60.8 hours per fortnight as a Clinical Nurse (with the possibility of contract extentions and/ or permanency.) For further information please refer to the WWC website at: https://workingwithchildren.wa.gov.au About the Opportunity This position is located at the DAYS (Drug and Alcohol Youth Services) department within Next Steps Services - providing the opportunity to work within a dynamic, supportive team in helping young people meet their drug and alcohol treatment goals. The successful applicant will provide clinical and professional expertise to ensure comprehensive evidence-based nursing care is delivered to consumers within an integrated model. Facilitates and promotes consumer safety and quality of care. Roles include case management of young people with AOD issues and liaison and consultation within the team as well as with other services and the families of young people. In undertaking the role of this position, the occupant will need to recognise that there is commitment to focussing on the needs of the individual, their families, carers or advocates working in partnership for better alcohol and other drug and mental health outcomes. Area Profile The East Metropolitan Health Service comprises an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 828,000 Western Australians in its catchment area. Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women’s, children’s and neonates services. The EMHS consists of Royal Perth Hospital; Mt Lawley Hospital; Armadale Health Service; Bentley Health Service; Kalamunda Hospital; St John of God Midland Public Hospital and a range of community and population health services. In November 2024, Next Step Services transitioned into the Royal Perth Bentley Group (RPBG) Hospital Logistics and Acute Access Division (HoLAA) within the East Metropolitan Health Service. Next Steps is the leading government drug and alcohol treatment service in Western Australia providing a range of clinical services. The treatment services provided by Next Step include: • Outpatient services at East Perth and via integrated Community Alcohol and Drug Services at six metropolitan location • The Inpatient Withdrawal Unit at East Perth • An onsite pharmacy service based at East Perth • Outpatient and inpatient youth services via the Integrated Drug and Alcohol Youth Service. Community programs including the Community Pharmacotherapy Program and the Clinical Advisory Service. • Next Step strives to be a culturally secure and inclusive service that is respectful of the diverse needs of each individual. Qualifaction and Experience • Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience in the delivery of evidence-based nursing care to consumers experiencing alcohol or other drug related issues and or mental health issues. • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. • Demonstrated high level written and verbal skills communication skills.
