About us:
The Community Child, Youth and Family Health (CYFH) team provides culturally appropriate universal and targeted services to families within the Cairns urban area. These services are delivered in partnership by a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, social workers, psychologists, speech pathologist, indigenous health workers and administration officers. Programs include maternal and infant health, child health, youth health and parental support.
Our values were developed by our staff, patients and community. They guide our work and actions every day. Our staff are part of the community we serve. We believe that we can improve health outcomes by involving our community in the planning and evaluation of their local health services.
About your role:
In this position you will…..
• Provide an opportunity for young people in secondary school to access health information, advice, support, brief intervention, and referral through confidential individual health consultations.
• Effectively manage self-development and work with the Nurse Unit Manager/Clinical Nurse Educator to meet unit nursing staff development needs.
• Effectively communicate at all levels across the organisation to promote effective team functioning. Support schools to use a whole of school approach to health promotion (Health Promoting Schools framework) to encourage a coordinated and comprehensive approach to the planning and implementation of school policies, programs, activities and environments.
