About this role

An exciting opportunity exists to become a Departmental Liaison Officer, within Cabinet, Legislation and Executive Services unit of TMR. In this role you will play a critical part in TMR by acting as the interface between TMR and the office of the Minister for Transport and Main Roads.

Some of your responsibilities will include: • Advisory and Support Services: Provide an accurate, timely and professional advice and support service to the Minister's office, the Director-General, Chief Operations Officer, and all levels of officers across TMR. Evaluate Ministerial officers' requests to ensure clarity is provided to TMR and review departmental responses to confirm Ministerial office requests have been addressed. • Service Delivery: Effectively manage workflow systems and processes to ensure deadlines are clearly identified and met within a complex, high-paced environment. Work with the Minister's office to facilitate the resolution of current and emerging issues raised by Members of Parliament on behalf of their constituents. • Stakeholder Management and Engagement: Develop extensive networks across TMR, consisting of key officers that are able to assist in providing authoritative, timely and professional advice through established business support and workflow processes. • Strategic Insights and Problem-solving: Actively identify ways in which departmental processes and liaison activities can be streamlined to ensure maximum efficiencies are met and stakeholders are supported. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of TMR portfolio responsibilities, its current and emerging issues and apply this knowledge when seeking to provide advice to the Minister's or Director-General's office. • Organisational Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of induction material for new Departmental Liaison Officers to effectively transition into the role to understand the commitments, responsibilities and current and emerging matters and learning opportunities. Foster and promote a team environment that encourages open communication, innovative thinking and flexibility for change.
