About this role

The Shire of Narrogin is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Rates Officer to join the Corporate Services team on a part-time or full-time basis. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to commence or further develop their career in local government and finance, with a strong desire to learn, grow and build their knowledge in rating, property administration and financial processing.

Responsibilities include:

• Managing and maintaining the Shire's property and rating database, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all property, ownership and valuation records.

• Preparing reports, reconciliations and supporting documentation relating to rates, charges, ESL, pensioner rebates and debt recovery for management, auditors and Council as required.

• Administering the annual rating process, including the raising of rates, service charges, interim and back rates, instalment arrangements, reminders, final notices and debt recovery activities in accordance with legislation and Council resolutions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong desire to learn, with the ability to develop knowledge and skills in financial reconciliations, reporting, and the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
