Where you'll be working: The General Paediatrics Department at John Hunter Children's Hospital provides specialist care to children and young people across the Hunter New England region. Our team consists of General Paediatricians, Fellows, Junior Medical Officers, Clinical Nurse Consultants and Allied Health staff who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality, family-centred care.

As part of the administrative team, you will play a vital role in supporting clinicians across multiple outpatient clinics and inpatient services. You will join a supportive and experienced administration team that values collaboration, continuous improvement and delivering exceptional service to patients, families and staff.

About the role: The General Paediatric Secretary provides comprehensive administrative support to a busy team of specialist paediatricians and medical staff. This is a fast-paced role requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. This position reports to the Clerical Administration Manager.

As the successful applicant, you will receive comprehensive on-the-job training from experienced members of the administration team. You will be supported to become familiar with departmental workflows, hospital policies and electronic systems, including patient administration and medical record applications.

You will have: • Demonstrated experience in a busy administrative or medical secretary role. • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands. • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills. • Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office. • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. • A commitment to providing high-quality customer service with a patient and family-centred approach.
