AO5 Graphic Designer (Customer & Stakeholder Management)

Cairns or Townsville | Queensland Government Contract $69.21 - $75.09 per hour + Super Contract: 07/09/2026 to 30/06/2027 Extension Options: 2 x 12 months

Our government client is seeking an experienced AO5 Graphic Designer to join their Customer & Stakeholder Management team in North Queensland. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality visual communication products across print, digital, video and online channels to support stakeholder engagement and community awareness initiatives. The position can be based in either Cairns or Townsville and is office-based, with flexible work arrangements available following an initial probation period.

Key Responsibilities • Develop and deliver creative design solutions aligned with strategic communication objectives. • Provide expert advice on visual design, branding and digital communications. • Translate complex information into engaging and accessible visual content. • Produce a broad range of materials including publications, brochures, newsletters, presentations, social media content, videos, displays, maps and advertising collateral. • Manage multiple projects and competing priorities to meet deadlines and quality standards. • Collaborate with stakeholders, internal clients and multidisciplinary teams. • Coordinate external suppliers including printers, photographers, videographers, illustrators and animators. • Ensure all outputs align with departmental branding, accessibility requirements and government standards. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and collaborate with design teams across the department.

Essential Skills & Experience • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro. • Strong graphic design, publishing and video editing capabilities. • Experience delivering creative solutions within large corporate or government environments. • Understanding of accessibility requirements and WCAG principles. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. • Experience working within brand and style guidelines. • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable • Minimum 5 years' experience in graphic design, visual communication or related disciplines. • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience. • Knowledge of Queensland Government processes and policies.
