Position InformationThe new Medowie High School will open to Year 7 students only at the start of Term 1, 2027. Located in Port Stephens on Worimi Country, the school serves a vibrant semi-rural community. Recognising the unique opportunities and challenges of opening a new school, the successful applicant will work closely with the principal and executive team to establish high-quality programs, systems, and structures to support excellence and equity. The role includes contributing to the development of a positive, inclusive and high-expectations school culture, while supporting the establishment of innovative and evidence-informed mathematics programs and practices that promote student engagement and achievement. Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria, 1. Demonstrated leadership capacity to contribute to the successful establishment of a new school by designing and implementing sustainable systems, structures and organisational processes that foster high-quality teaching, learning and the effective operation of the Mathematics faculty. 2. Demonstrated capacity to establish and lead a cohesive, high-performing Mathematics faculty in a new school, building staff capability through the implementation of evidence-informed, innovative practices that maximise student learning outcomes. General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policyConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
