Lead independent scientific reviews and reports that inform NSW Government decisions Work alongside leading research, industry and government experts for impact-driven advice Ongoing, Clerk Grade 9/10 ($133,348 - $146,945 per annum) opportunity, based in Martin Place, Sydney About the Role You will join our Reviews and Committees branch in the Office of the Chief Scientist & Engineer. As the Manager, Reviews and Committees, you will provide high-quality, technical and science-based strategic advice to support government-commissioned independent reviews led by the Chief Scientist & Engineer. The role is responsible for leading complex review projects from end to end, including research, evidence gathering, critical analysis, and the drafting and review of submissions, technical papers, reports and briefings that inform government decision-making. Working closely with the Chief Scientist & Engineer, Deputy Chief Scientist & Engineer and Senior Managers, you will lead and support independent reviews, committees and expert panels, delivering high-quality advice on complex scientific and technical issues. You will apply your science and engineering expertise and knowledge to compose advice to government on complex problems across a range of subjects. You will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across government, academia, industry and the broader scientific community - coordinating consultation, managing sensitive information and exercising professionalism and discretion. You will work with subject matter experts, synthesising and collating their knowledge to understand sensitive issues and outline practical solutions. Working across multiple concurrent projects, you will apply sound judgement, critical thinking and project management skills to deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes. To learn more about the role please review the Role Description. We're Looking For Science or Engineering Qualifications: Tertiary qualification/s in science and/or engineering are essential. Experience in similar advisory roles within research, government and/or industry highly regarded. Project Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading complex projects, reviews or policy initiatives, managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes Critical Analysis: Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesise complex scientific, technical or policy information and develop clear, evidence-based advice and recommendations Stakeholder Engagement: Proven ability to build productive relationships, manage consultation processes and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes Communication: Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality briefings, reports, submissions and executive advice on complex issues Strategic Advice: Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues, manage sensitive information and provide trusted, evidence-based advice to support decision-making We value diverse experiences.
