For more information on working with us and our recruitment process, please visit Department of Families, Fairness and Housing Victoria | Jobs (www.dffh.vic.gov.au/jobs) THE ROLE The Worker Screening and Child Safeguarding Team and the Regulatory Policy and Entities Team within the Safeguarding and Oversight Policy Unit, provide strategy, policy, legislation and program development to ensure safe service delivery and worker screening and to support the relevant statutory entities. Working in this unit, the Policy Officer, Safeguarding and Oversight Policy contributes to the development of budget bids, Cabinet submissions and papers and briefings suitable for informing senior executive and ministerial decision making. The position will require written and verbal communication skills, and an understanding of policy and budget setting processes, and processes for the making of legislation and regulations in the Victorian context. The role holders will also have the skills and ability to use initiative to support delivery in a fast-paced and changing policy environment. ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE • Provide advice and analysis on policy and legislative reform on matters related to worker screening, child safeguarding and social services regulation. • Advise on emerging strategy and policy issues in worker screening, regulatory child safeguarding, social service and disability worker regulation, in collaboration with departmental colleagues. • Maintain an understanding of issues impacting the worker screening, regulatory child safeguarding and regulation of social services and disability workers, including at the national level.
