About this role

You will provide professional prosecution services, including provision of legal advice to members of the Service on matters before the Magistrates, Childrens and Coroners Courts. Cairns Police Prosecution Corps has combined teams of both sworn and civilian prosecutors, supported by administration staff. The position offers a broad level of experience across all Magistrates Court criminal matters, with circuit courts providing an added dimension to the role.Prosecutors are responsible for police related matters in the Cairns Magistrates Court District in addition to servicing the circuit Magistrates Courts at Cooktown, Lockhart River, Aurukun, Coen, Hope Vale, Weipa, Pormpuraaw, Kowanyama and Wujal Wujal. The satellite office of Thursday Island services Thursday Island Magistrates Court in addition to the Torres Circuit Courts.
