Come for the Lifestyle Where you'll be working Kids Hub is a new Paediatric community based service providing multi-disciplinary care to children up to the age of 12 with mild to moderate emotional, behavioural, early mental health and wellbeing needs. The building has been newly refurbished and designed for Paediatric care. The position will be supported by a team of experienced Paediatricians and will have links to Wollongong Paediatrics Department. Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the Provisional Paediatric Fellow/Advanced Paediatric Trainee role is to provide high-quality medical care with senior oversight and supervision to paediatric patients of Illawarra Kids Hub within the ISLHD catchment area. Kids Hub is a multidisciplinary team who provide short term, family centered intervention and support for children aged 0 to 12 years presenting with mild to moderate behavioral or emotional distress. Within the role you will provide routine paediatric care, assessment of neurodevelopmental concerns and engagement in appropriate management and linkage to ongoing care. The Provisional Paediatric Fellow/Paediatric Advanced trainee position is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Community Child Health Specialist Advisory Committee and supports development of skills required for specialist paediatric training. It is also accredited for core community/developmental training to fulfill the training requirements in General Paediatrics. The University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine offers research and teaching opportunities, and conjoint honorary lecturer appointments are available to interested Fellows/Advanced trainees. Those registered with the RACP must have successfully completed written & clinical components of the FRACP examination & preferably completed a minimum of 6 months as an advanced trainee with RACP or equivalent at commencement of the Provisional Fellow role. * Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team. * Advanced clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly. * Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability and willingness to teach medical students, doctors in training and other health professionals. * Understanding of research methodology or research experience and a willingness to undertake a research proposal. * Demonstrated contribution to quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance within the hospital e.g. participation in committees or representation on behalf of the hospital.
