About Our Team: The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges. Ward 5A, located at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) and Nickoll Ward, located at Hollywood, is an acute mental health inpatient facility authorised under the WA Mental Health Act (2014). It provides 24/7 therapeutic care for children and adolescents up to 16 years old who require acute psychiatric support, whether admitted voluntarily or involuntarily when less restrictive care options are not suitable. As the state-wide CAMHS Inpatient Unit, Ward 5A and Nickoll Ward offers a safe, developmentally appropriate, and therapeutic environment. The multidisciplinary team works closely with families and carers to deliver comprehensive diagnostic assessments, tailored therapeutic programs, and recovery-oriented management. Operating within a secure setting, the unit runs a seven-day program that includes short-term assessments, brief interventions, and group therapies designed to meet individual needs. The service is patient- and family-centred, with a strong focus on recovery and collaboration. About the Role: As a Senior Exercise Physiologist within the Inpatient Services at Perth Children’s Hospital, you will deliver high‐quality Exercise Physiology services to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide advanced‐level assessment, intervention, and care coordination to support comprehensive clinical management, therapeutic engagement, and discharge planning. Some of your key accountabilities will include: • Delivering advanced Exercise Physiology assessment, intervention, and evaluation for complex and general child and adolescent mental health caseloads within a multidisciplinary team. • Planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating specialist Exercise Physiology services within the CAHS Inpatient Unit. • Actively participating in multidisciplinary clinical team meetings, clinical reviews, and case conferences to inform care, intervention, and discharge planning. • Liaising with consumers, carers, health professionals, and community agencies to support continuity of care and optimal clinical outcomes. • Providing specialist consultation and advice on Exercise Physiology practice to staff across the CAMHS sector and to external government and non‐government agencies. • Contributing to service development through program planning, implementation, evaluation, and inter‐agency collaboration. • Participating in applied clinical research and service evaluation activities as appropriate. • Supervising and instructing Exercise Physiology students within approved clinical teaching programs. • Maintaining advanced professional knowledge and skills and participating in ongoing supervision and professional development. • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation, databases, and statistical data in accordance with organisational requirements. • Contributing to the development and review of policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines relating to Exercise Physiology services in child and adolescent mental health. You will maintain eligibility and accreditation as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), ensuring care is delivered to contemporary advanced practice standards.
