Come for the Lifestyle Where you’ll be working Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services. Wollongong is located an hour’s drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west. What you'll be doing The Colorectal Senior Registrar works with three Colorectal Surgeons in a busy regional teaching hospital. Responsibilities include the clinical care and surgical management of emergency and elective colorectal and general surgical patients under the supervision of specialist staff; guidance of colorectal team junior doctors; management of departmental educational meetings; off site on-call duties and monthly CSSANZ Sydney Journal Club attendance. The Senior Registrar will gain further knowledge, skills and confidence in the practice of Colorectal and General Surgery, attending theatre for five elective full day lists per fortnight, emergency operating as required on a daily basis and additional endoscopy lists. * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia * Minimum five years post graduate experience with previous experience in General Surgery.
