Emergency Medicine SRMO Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29945 An exciting opportunity to join the team in the Emergency Department at the Northern Beaches Hospital. The SRMO will provide medical care, consistent with level of experience to patients presenting to the Emergency Department under the supervision of more senior medical staff. Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport. Emergency SRMOs will work alongside a highly motivated group of FACEMs with vast experience in toxicology, education, trauma, Ultrasound sports medicine and prehospital and retrieval medicine. Our staff are ACEM examiners, 2017 ACEM Teaching Excellence Award recipient, Director of Postgraduate Education and Training, ACEM WBA regional panel members, several regular interventional conference speakers who contribute to popular EM websites, blogs and podcasts and coordinate novel resuscitation and procedures courses Comprehensive primary and fellowship ACEM exam preparation program with high success rate Opportunity to be involved in active research program Access to a roster governed by a transparent and equitable roster rules document, which ensures fair spread of shifts and includes principles such as quarantining leave around exams so as to maximally benefit trainees. What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent. THIS POSITION IS BASED AT THE NORTHERN BEACHES HOSPITAL, FRENCHS FOREST, NSW * Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role * Demonstrated ability to work independently in a supervised environment. * Adept ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team with an understanding of the roles of the doctor and other members of the healthcare team. * Adept written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team. * Adept good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. * Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. * Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
