Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Senior Resident Medical Officer, Hawkesbury District HospitalEmployment Type: Temporary Full Time or Part Time (01-Feb-2027 to 06-Feb-2028) Remuneration: $94,521 - $127,827 Hours Per Week: Up to 38 Requisition ID: CAM30251 To provide effective medical services to patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment in inpatients and outpatient areas in the public health organisation. The O&G SRMO is responsible for the initial assessment of patients and ongoing day to day management under the direction of the appropriate attending medical officer who has legal responsibility for the patient. The O&G SRMO has a responsibility for ensuring appropriate communication and documentation takes place as well as a responsibility for the training and supervision of junior medical staff. What you'll be doing * Develop competency in the outpatient management of pregnant women, basic delivery suite management and the medical care of women admitted with complications of pregnancy under Consultant supervision, including daily ward rounds, arranging appropriate investigations and carefully documenting clinical assessments and management plans. * Develop effective assessment and investigative skills in women presenting with acute complications of pregnancy and gynaecological presentations. * Review postnatal patients and coordinate appropriate inpatient and post discharge management, including liaison with general practitioners, addressing issues of contraception and any future Obstetric concerns appropriately. * Coordinate the care of women admitted for gynaecological care within a team and under the supervision of Consultants including daily ward rounds, arranging appropriate investigations and carefully documenting clinical assessments and management plans. * Acquire familiarity with basic Gynaecological surgical procedures through regular theatre attendance / participation. * Assist with limited surgical duties at other hospitals in the LHD including Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital, Springwood Hospital and Hawkesbury Hospital. Essential requirements * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. * Expected completion of at least two postgraduate years at the time of commencement of employment, with prior experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. * Recent relevant clinical experience required to undertake the key accountabilities for this role. * Competency in: o Obstetric and Gynaecological history taking and examination. o Pelvic examination including speculum examination and PAP smears. o Basic understand of Obstetric antenatal care. o Basic competency in normal delivery and assessment of progress in labour. o Basic interpretation of CTGs. o Basic understanding of Obstetric and Gynaecological ultrasound reports. * This position is subject to an appropriate supervision level which can be supported by the health agency. If the incumbent’s registration conditions include supervision requirements, the level of supervision must be able to be supported by the health agency for this role. * Valid Working with Children Check, cleared National Police Check. * To be employed by NSW Health you are required to provide evidence of vaccination to comply with the NSW Health Occupational Assessment, Screening & Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases Policy, this includes any amendments made from time to time. Selection criteria * Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role. * Advanced ability to work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, including the sharing of appropriate information internally and externally with key persons or services. * Advanced ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise. * Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to vary communication style in line with the understanding of the needs of diverse audiences. * Advanced ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment. * Commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. * Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
