Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Remuneration: - Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM30100 What you'll be doing The primary purpose of the Senior Resident Medical Officer (SRMO) in the Emergency Department and Hospital Wards at Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital is to provide clinical care, under appropriate supervision, to patients requiring emergency, inpatient and outpatient medical services in a complex clinical environment. This position will provide experience in a critical care environment and have responsibilities and opportunities for autonomous practice commensurate with the level of experience of the incumbent. The SRMO is responsible for co-ordinating and documenting the admission, management and discharge planning of patients within the Unit; the day-to-day assessment and management of the patients, maintaining high levels of communication with patients and family regarding the nature of their condition and its treatment; communicating and co-ordinating care with the team; arranging consultation with other staff when appropriate; and arranging discharge and liaising with local medical officers and other community based care modalities in order to ensure the provision of optimal patient care within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered with the Medical Board of Australia. * A minimum of 2 years satisfactory full-time post-graduate experience, including recent demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in an Australian Health System, including at least 3 months in general and emergency medicine at the commencement of the new Clinical Year. * Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, teaching, research, quality improvement and clinical leadership in medicine, with current Basic Life Support Accreditation. * Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealings with patients, team members and supervisors * Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in a clinical setting within a multidisciplinary team * Demonstrated ability to apply clinical knowledge and concepts in practical situations in the context of multiple competing priorities Need more information? 1) Click here for the Position Description 2) Find out more about applying for this position For role related queries or questions contact Pauline Rumma on Pauline.Rumma@health.nsw.gov.au Applications Close: 04, August 2026
