Staff Specialist in Addiction Medicine Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services | Hunter New England Local Health District Permanent | Up to 1.6 FTE Hunter New England Local Health District is seeking applications from suitably qualified Addiction Medicine specialists to join our established Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS) team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide contemporary, evidence-based, addiction medicine services across a diverse range of inpatient, outpatient, hospital consultation-liaison, telehealth and community-based settings throughout HNELHD, Mid North Coast and Northern NSW LHDs. The position offers flexibility, with opportunities available on a full time or part-time basis, up to a combined 1.6 FTE. DACS aims to improve health and reduce harm for individuals, their families, carers, and the wider community. DACS provides a specialist treatment service for people with substance use issues, grounded in a Harm Minimisation model of care. DACS is a multidisciplinary service comprising nursing, medical, and allied health clinicians, alongside peer support and Aboriginal health workers. The service operates across various community, outpatient, and inpatient settings, providing prevention, early intervention, drug and alcohol assessment, treatment, counselling, and case management throughout Hunter New England Health. About You Applicants must be: • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Addiction Medicine (or equivalent specialist qualification) • Fellow of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine, Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent (eg Fellow of RANZCP with certificate of Advanced Training in Addiction Psychiatry) or overseas trained specialist pathways. Drug & Alcohol Clinical Services are accredited to provide Addiction Medicine training by the RACP. We work in close partnership with the Calvary Mater Alcohol and Drug Service.
