About the Opportunity An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and qualified Staff Specialist or Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthesia to join the dynamic team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. In this role, you will provide contemporary, comprehensive specialist anaesthetic services that support optimal outcomes for surgical and procedural patients across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD). You will play a key role in supporting and supervising clinicians across multiple disciplines to promote high-quality education and safe clinical practice. What You’ll Be Doing * Provide evidence-based anaesthetic care across MLHD sites. * Supervise and educate junior doctors and clinical staff. * Participate in the on-call roster and occasional regional sessions. * Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement. * Collaborate with teams to ensure coordinated patient care. * Attend meetings and support departmental administration. What We’re Looking For * Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Anaesthesia. * Expertise in anaesthesia with a patient-focused approach. * Proficiency in using clinical information systems. * Strong communication and leadership skills. * A commitment to teaching, education, and patient safety. * Availability to respond on-site for on-call duties. * Alignment with NSW Health CORE values: Collaboration, Openness, Respect, Empowerment. Need more information? 1) Click here for the Position Description For role related queries or questions contact Dr Simon Craig, Director of Medical Services WWBH on MLHD-WWRRH-EAtoDMS@health.nsw.gov.au Selection Criteria * Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Anaesthetics, and/or overseas trained specialist pathways. * Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills. * Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Anaesthesia practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team. * Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement. * Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time. * Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies.
