Position InformationCanley Heights Public School is located south-west of Sydney within the Fairfield local government area. The school has a student population of approximately 540, including 40 preschool children, and 28 students attending inclusive education classes supporting learners with Autism and Intellectually Moderate (IO) disabilities. The school community is culturally and linguistically diverse, with approximately 92% of students coming from language backgrounds other than English. Students are supported by significant EAL/D and Community Language programs, alongside targeted literacy and numeracy initiatives. Canley Heights Public School is committed to explicit teaching practices that ensure all students make strong growth across social, emotional, physical, and academic domains. Through targeted, evidence-based instruction, the school strives to recognise and cultivate each student's potential by providing authentic opportunities for student voice, agency, and leadership within a respectful and inclusive community. Selection CriteriaApproval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with diverse learning needs such as autism, moderate intellectual disability and complex behaviours. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively develop, maintain and review Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Support Plans with the proven capacity to use data to deliver and evaluate responsive, high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs for all students. High quality classroom practice and management skills which create an inclusive, positive learning environment, enabling all students to connect, succeed and thrive. Well-developed communication skills with the ability to work flexibly as part of a collaborative and supportive staff to build strong relationships with students and the community. ConditionsAn unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
