Anaesthetics Trainee (ANZCA Accredited) Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29469 An exciting opportunity exists to join the Anaesthetics team at the Northern Beaches Hospital. What you'll be doing The primary purpose of an Independent Trainee (ANZCA Accredited) in Anaesthesia (‘Trainee’) is to provide Anaesthetic care in a complex clinical environment. This will be done under supervision appropriate to the level of training of the applicant and in line with recommendations of the training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA). The position is accredited by ANZCA for 52 weeks of training. This position offers an opportunity for further Anaesthetic training and perioperative experience for a candidate considering an Anaesthetic career in a contemporary setting supported by the latest equipment at the state of the art Northern Beaches Hospital. Trainees are expected to extend their knowledge and skills in managing anaesthesia across multiple subspeciality areas of anaesthesia in order to meet the professional standards set by ANZCA. Trainees are required to deliver anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms and to perform other duties during rotations to other areas as directed. Trainees will participate as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics including: * Anaesthesia and sedation (including obstetric anaesthesia) * Regional anaesthesia * Airway management * Pain medicine * Perioperative medicine * Resuscitation * Trauma and crisis management * The position is based at the Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport. The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors. On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas.
