Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Remuneration: - Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29958 We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and committed candidates for the Anaesthetics Trainee position at The Sutherland Hospital for the 2027 clinical year. Where you'll be working The Sutherland Hospital is a 375 bed Major Metropolitan Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of NSW, located in the Sutherland Shire 25 kilometres from the Sydney CBD. A 44 bed Emergency Department which includes 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated Adult and Paediatric Fast Track areas, an 8 bed ED Short Stay Unit, a collocated Radiology Department with CT scanner. The addition of 60 new acute inpatient beds, including 6 additional ICU beds and a 16 bed General Medical Unit. There are 24hr diagnostic services and excellent support from Mental Health, ICU and community/aged care services and nursing staff. Sutherland Hospital provides a 24/7 Interventional Cardiology service. Inpatient services include most subspecialties; General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, Urology, Vascular Surgery, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Oncology, Renal, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Aged Care, Rehabilitation and Mental Health. What you'll be doing Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the above position in Anaesthetics. The position will be based at Sutherland Hospital within the Department of Anaesthetics. Reporting to the Director of Anaesthetics. The Sutherland Hospital theatre complex is expanding and recently commissioned 6 new operating theatres as part of the first phase of theatre suite redevelopment. 2 additional theatres plus 2 dedicated endoscopy procedure rooms will be commissioned in the second phase. The department is currently accredited for up to 52 weeks of training by ANZCA. * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category. * Previous Australian anaesthetic experience with proven commitment to develop relevant anaesthetic skills and knowledge. * Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team. * Previous ICU experience. * Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision. * Excellent communication skills. * Minimum three (3) years hospital experience post graduation or PGY3 or greater at time of application.
