Where you'll be working Ryde Hospital is currently undergoing an exciting $479 million Redevelopment that will transform the delivery of healthcare for the Ryde local community. The Redevelopment will result in new and enhanced health facilities and services including emergency, critical care, inpatient, community, ambulatory care services and more. What you'll be doing The primary purpose of Trainee in Emergency Medicine is to provide high quality medical care under appropriate supervision to undifferentiated patients presenting to the Emergency Department. Trainees undertaking the care of medical patients should ensure that they operate within their own level of expertise within a collaborative clinical care model and to seek consultation with their colleagues when appropriate. Trainees work under a level of supervision appropriate for their stage of training. Ryde is accredited for ED training, and accredited terms in ICU or General Medicine can be arranged. This position is suited to and those planning to apply to ACEM to be a trainee during the year. Key features of this position that suit a trainee at this stage of their training include: * Four hours per week protected training time * No overtime built into roster unless desired * At least two weeks annual leave guaranteed every six months if three months' notice is given * No night shifts in the four weeks prior to exams * Mentoring from Co-DEMT who is an examiner * Attendance at Network Primary Exam training. * Attendance at one of the GOODEM conferences supported by GOODEM * Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role * Demonstrated ability to work with appropriate independence, commensurate with a level of a Specialist Trainee, within a supervised complex clinical environment. * Demonstrated ability to work with appropriate independence, commensurate with a level of a Specialist Trainee, within a supervised complex clinical environment. * Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and others members of the health care team. * Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. * Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management. * Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self education * Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
