Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM30289 Northern Beaches Hospital Emergency Department offers an ACEM-aligned Special Skills Placement in Emergency Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). The role provides advanced education, supervised clinical scanning, ultrasound governance experience, teaching opportunities, quality assurance participation and research exposure. The Ultrasound Special Skills Trainee will develop expertise in the acquisition, interpretation, clinical integration, quality assurance and teaching of emergency ultrasound. The trainee will work closely with Emergency Physicians with expertise in POCUS and will contribute to ultrasound education, governance, credentialling, quality improvement and research activities within the department. The position is a one year placement comprising 0.5 FTE Ultrasound SSP and 0.5 FTE clinical Emergency Department duties for 6 months, and 6 months as a pure clinical Emergency Medicine – Trainee Stage 2-4. The trainee is expected to maintain active clinical practice while developing advanced ultrasound skills consistent with ACEM SSP requirements. The position is based at the Northern Beaches Hospital, Frenchs Forest * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category * Completion of at least 5 years full time equivalent post-graduate years * Significant experience in an Australian Emergency Department or equivalent and in the management of critically ill patients * The successful applicant must be an ACEM Advanced Trainee as per ACEM requirements * Must have demonstrated commitment in medical education and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate nursing and medical staff * Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the Emergency Department * Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management in the Emergency Department * Must be able to participate in a full 24/7 rotating roster including on-call during the Emergency Medical component of the position Need more information? 1) Click here for the Position Description 2) Find out more about applying for this position For role related queries or questions contact Tayia Yeates on Tayia.Yeates@health.nsw.gov.au Applications Close: 04, August 2026
