Employment Type: Temporary Various Remuneration: As per State Award Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29064 Where you'll be working Royal Prince Alfred Hospital What you'll be doing We are seeking a high quality, dedicated Paediatric Trainee to join the RPAH Paediatric team. The position offers a comprehensive training experience for those wishing to pursue a career in paediatrics. The position is also well-suited to trainees wishing to gain a broad exposure to paediatrics before embarking on another training program (e.g GP trainee). The primary function of this position is to provide quality clinical care under supervision to children requiring inpatient and ambulatory medical services at RPA hospital. Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and one of Australia’s leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment facilities. Over 12,000 children present to RPA ED each year and approximately 1600 are admitted with a range of acute and chronic medical and surgical problems. The Department of Paediatrics provides a broad range of services, including a busy 10-bed inpatient ward, a hospital in the home program, daily acute review clinics, general paediatric outpatient clinics and medical support to the Parent Baby Unit and RPAVirtual, Australia’s first virtual hospital. There is a focus on innovation, quality improvement and mentoring the trainee toward consultancy. A myriad of educational opportunities are provided including a daily teaching program, access to sub-specialty clinics and education provided by the RPA NICU and the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. Trainees will participate in the supervision and education of medical students from the University of Sydney. Staff are supported to ensure patients, their families and carers are considered as partners in care to achieve optimal patient outcomes and best possible healthcare experience. * MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. * Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills (at the required level of competency), judgement and expertise. * Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills. * Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team. * Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education. * Demonstrated professional attitude and flexibility in work role with preparedness and ability to participate in after-hours overtime and on-call rosters. * Demonstrated commitment to teaching and the supervision of Junior Medical Officers. * A minimum of 3 years post graduate experience and 1 year experience in paediatrics with demonstrated competence in paediatric resuscitation.
