Medical Oncology Unaccredited Trainee Employment Type: Temporary Full Time Hours Per Week: 38 Requisition ID: CAM29964 The Medical Oncology Unaccredited Trainee is expected to provide effective clinical management of patients, under appropriate supervision, including patient assessment, making treatment decisions, performing procedures and maintaining adequate medical records; and to develop expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical environment. This includes supervised general medical management of patients admitted to the Medical Oncology Ward as well as to participate on the After Hours and on-call Medical roster. This position is based at the Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital Northern Beaches Hospital provides world-class, Level 5 delineation services for both public and private patients. The hospital features 486 beds, 50-bed Emergency Department, 20-bed general and cardiothoracic ICU, 14 fully equipped theatres, including hybrid theatres, two cardiac catheter labs, extensive digital imaging / diagnostic facilities, medical centre collocated with ED, state of the art education and interactive SIM centre and a Helipad for Emergency Transport. The Northern Beaches Hospital provides a high standard of education and training, with dedicated supervisors, teachers and a JMO Unit that supports all activities related to rostering, training, education and welfare of junior doctors. On level 4 of the 9-storey hospital is the Education Centre where doctors can access a range of facilities. These include the latest technology for teaching, simulation and presentations, plus various meeting rooms and conference areas. There is capability to stream education sessions to/from other facilities, as well as within the hospital for the simulation rooms and theatres. * Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role. * Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care. * High level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience. * Demonstrated good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment. * Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly. * Understanding and promotion of collaborative effort and empathy within a diverse team environment. * Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of on-going learning, teaching activities potential involvement with projects and research publications. * At least three years' post graduate experience in public hospital service (or equivalent).
