The Infrastructure and Operations Division maintains national critical infrastructure for Services Australia and across government. We deliver a robust, secure, and resilient ICT environment so Australian citizens can access government services 24x7. The Service Operations and Management Branch is the process owner for processes, as defined under the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). We enable our stakeholders to achieve their objectives through the delivery of our goals: • Making our services easier for people to use • Providing contemporary and tailored services • Maintain purposeful and respectful relationships About the Role We are seeking enthusiastic tech-driven individuals with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies looking to commence an exciting career path in Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Information and Communications Technology (ICT) continues to be a key catalyst, enabler and driver of the agency’s customer service transformation. The Technology and Digital Programs Group provides the underpinning technology and expertise to support the agency’s vision in the provision of government services to Australians. The 24x7 Operations Section provides the essential role in the monitoring and processing of the Agency’s mainframe systems and business applications for Centrelink, Medicare (MCA), Child Support Program (CSP), the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) and the Department of Health. As an ICT Support Engineer – (Mainframe Operations) within the 24x7 Operations Centre you will be part of a team who perform all batch processing and adhocs for the Centrelink testing environments. You’ll support the mainframe production scheduling environment, monitor, triage, resolve or escalate issues during batch jobs runs for payments and reporting for Centrelink, Child support and Medicare. You’ll be assisting in the renewal of mainframe operations skills in the agency. You’ll be responsible for the training, mentoring and coaching of junior staff. You’ll participate in learning activities and development opportunities for advancement to senior mainframe operations roles. You’ll work with a highly skilled team of professionals who provide round the clock monitoring, using a world class video monitoring capability. Enabling our team to identify and respond quickly for the crucial monitoring requirements to support Services Australia and our Shared Service Partners. This role requires the following leadership and management skills: • Lead and manage a team to increase performance and engagement through coaching, capability development, performance management, and health and well‐being support; • Lead and evaluate operational practices to ensure continuous improvements; contribute to strategic planning; and • Effectively engage and communicate technical information with internal and external stakeholders with varying technical understanding. • Undertake a range of Production environment functions including batch monitoring, executing jobs and schedules in Control-M, OPC/TWS and Enterprise Manager. • Actioning ad-hoc requests. • BAU support of the mainframe production and test environments, actioning alerts, identifying potential issues, troubleshooting job failures, working with support teams and advising management of possible solutions. • Assisting with problem and incident management and root cause analysis. • Accurately record all incidents and service requests in corporate ITSM tool. • Provide timely advice to managers on progress against accountabilities and on issues that require separate consideration and resolution. • Exercising appropriate delegation in accordance with legislation and guidelines.
